NEWS

Autunno 2005
E' stato pubblicato "Third Moon", il nuovo album dei Fire Trails.

Line up .

From historical Vanadium's ashes a new Band has risen, their purpose is to bring back the Hard Rock Locomotive on those burning rails ridden, in the 80's, at full speed.
Lio Mascheroni & Pino Scotto, beating and kicking core of the legendary five piece from Milano (Italy), are back on the scene with a new extraordinary band: FIRE TRAILS.
Electrical sparks are soon to strike us! Fire Trails aspire to become the epicentre of italian rock scene's earthquake, inheriting from Vanadium the role of undiscussed ruler of Italian metal.
Prepare yourself for you'll be overwhelmed by the relentless energy of their awesome Hard Rock. You're warned! (by Dr.Feelgood)

An indestructible faith in Rockn'roll and the wish of new emotions are the spinning elements which are convincing two of the Italian hard rock monsters like Pino Scotto and Lio Mascheroni to translate in real dimension the Vanadium spectrum, the uncontested leaders of the Metal scene of Italy in the eighties. As first they introduced in Italy the energy and the unlimited power of hard rock, rewriting the way of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and overall Deep Purple. Vanadium did conquest the stages and the attention of whole Europe, getting everywhere good response from critics and public. As a part of the heavy metal phenomenon for the whole "decade of decadence" and able to produce eight album, among them the electrical life album "Live On Streets Of Danger", registered in France and some historical video clips, the band developed the rock sound of the seventies in a much heavier way, being present "on the wave" with bands like Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake and Twisted Sister. At the beginning with a typical British matrix, the band was able to evolve with intelligence, developing a personal offer, linked in the same time at the glorious tradition of European hard rock and the amazing American rock like acts from Dokken, Ratt or Van Halen. Unbelievable albums like "Game Over" (1984), which has been sold only in Italy in 54'000 copies, "Born To Fight" (1986), a titanic masterpiece with world level, "Corruption Of Innocence" (1987) and "Seventheaven" (1989), did represent the hard rock sound made in Italy for the whole decade, becoming the symbol of pride for every local heavy metal kid. After the band separated in 1990, it was the great Pino Scotto to provide to keep the rockn'roll fire alive in the peninsula. He realises the album "Il Grido Disperato Di Mille Band" together with high level musicians like Luigi Schiavone (guitar from Enrico Ruggeri), Andrea Braido (axe-man of Vasco Rossi) and the harmonist Fabio Treves. After a long tour, Pino Scotto participates at the Monsters Of Rock, together with legends like Black Sabbath, Megadeath, Iron Maiden, Pantera and Testament. He also gets a Grammy for his first solo album within the review "Spazio d'Autore". In 1993, with his "body" friend Lio Mascheroni , he creates the "Progetto Sinergia": featuring also Luigi Schiavone, Antonio Aiazzi from Litfiba and Fabrizio Palermo from Clandestino ( the ex-band of Ligabue). Everything goes on like a fireball: the super band registers a mini CD and crosses the peninsula with a tour of 30 dates. On their side, the Vanadium join together again in 1995 with a new album "Nel Cuore Del Caos" in which the Italian language mixes very well with the stylistic way now followed by Scotto. After a long tour the band splits again and Pino continues his solo career alternating live concerts and new issues worth to be mentioned: "Segnali di Fuoco" and "Guado", with the participation of members of the bands Extrema and Timoria, artists like the vocalist Aida Cooper and the sax Claudio Pascoli. Today, at a distance of eight years of the split of the band, the dynamic duo Mascheroni-Scotto comes back with a new explosive band, determined to promote again that mix of adrenaline which has made famous the hard rock. FIRE TRAILS is born, an ambitious project to give new air to the Italian music panorama. The talent and class of singer Pino Scotto, real monster of rock made in Italy and the power of drummer Lio Mascheroni melted with the technical talents of three exceptional members: axe-man Steve Angarthal, a young six strings magician inspired by a legend like Ritchie Blackmore or the young guitar-hero Yngwie J. Malmsteen, has an enviable academic curriculum and made a good live experience during a four year stay in London; keyboard and organist Neil Otupacca is coming from the Gotthard, the well known Swiss heavy rock band; Angelo Perini, bass-player with a velvet touch, year 1978, already active with the "Scomunica". The album registered by FIRE TRAILS, called "A Tribute To Vanadium" is made of 12 brands, alternating three new praising songs "Movin' Soul" (introduction), "Goin' On" and "Wild Horse" with nine historical songs from the Vanadium production, all re-arranged and mixed in a modern key. A good example: "We want live with rock & roll", where at keyboard you'll find Denny Peryonel from the historical UFO. The album has been registered in august 2002 at the Alphaville Studio in Milano (Underground Symphony) and will be distributed by Audioglobe Records from Florence. The roots of FIRE TRAILS go inevitably back to the glorious past of Vanadium, but the quintet projects the music in the future, spreading their "granitic" sound with progressive touches in order to valorise best the technical capacities of the singles and, in the mean time, the impact power of this dynamic group. FIRE TRAILS should be the new bet in the actual music scene, absolutely not to miss.

Fire Trails: band profile
. .

Pino Scotto (voice)

Pino Scotto, singer (1949), undoubtedly represents the most important figure on the national rock scene. This lombardy-born artist holds this glorious title recognized by every rock lover. The charismatic and powerful singer, who has been greatly influenced by blues and has a deep gravely voice, is the most significant rappresentation of Rock Italy has ever seen. His carreer officially starts at the end of the 70s when he records his first single with Pulsar. After a short while he becomes Vanadium's frontman, the most important rock band on the italian rock scene. It's with this band that he releases 8 great albums (7 of which he releases annually, quite an achievement for an italian rock band) touring all over the country and throughout Europe. With the debut "Metal Rock" (1982), an instinctive concept influenced by the sound that made Deep Purple appreciated all over the world, Vanadium sell 8000 copies. The following work " A race with the devil" receives great reviews and sells succesfully but it's with the album "Game over" (1984) that the band sells 45000 copies, surprising the entire italian record industry. With the following album " Live on the streets of danger" (1986) Vanadium shoot two videos regularly scheduled on Videomusic. "Easy way to love" from the album "A race with the devil", recorded in London, becomes the soundtrack of the music show Discoring and "You can't stop the music" unpublished track included in the live album, is the first video clip ever shot by an italian rock band. After the bankrupt of their label Durium the band sees the sudden stop of their new studio release "Corruption of innocence" (1987), produced by Jim Faraci (Ratt, Poison, Guns N' Roses) but they find a way out. With a lot of courage and determination they sign up with Green Line/Ricordi releasing "Seventheaven" a single greatly produced by Guy Bidmead (Motorhead, Tina Turner, Wratchild) with a more "american" sound. In this single Pino Scotto's voice sounds softer and smoother, proving his versatility, giving emphasis to the A.O.R (Adult oriented rock) tunes, specially in tracks as the popular "Take my blues away" and "To be a number one". The distribution and promotion of this record are badly managed by the new label that doesn't support the band properly. After this disappointing experience the band decicedes to take a break. From 1990 through 1992 Pino Scotto releases his first solo album, this time in italian, "Il grido disperato di mille Bands". with the collaboration of Andrea Braido, axe-man of Vaso Rossi, Luigi Schiavone Enrico Ruggeri's guitarist, and the harmonica player Fabio Treves). At this point Pino Scotto starts his tour with his Jam Roll Project where he performs on stage with Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Pantera and Testament. Soon afterwards he receives a Grammy at the Spazio D'autore event for his album and for his true personality. In 1993 he's back at work with artists as Luigi Schiavone, Antonio Aiazzi (Litfiba), Fabrizio Palermo (Clandestino ex-band of Ligabue) and his everlasting friend Lio Mascheroni, to give life to the project "Progetto Sinergia" and to release the album wih the same name in 1994. In 1995 Vanadium re-unite and release a great album in italian "Nel cuore del caos" followed by a long tour that ends at the end of February 1996. Soon afterwards Vanadim publish a compilation "Segnali di fuoco" containing tracks from Pino Scotto's last three albums: "Il grido disperato di mille bands", "Progetto Sinergia", "Nel cuore del caos" . The compilation also includes some unpublished tracks (produced by RIMA record) in which not only Vanadium but artists as Ronnie Jackson and the above mentioned Andrea Braido and Fabio Treves give their contribution. The compilation (sold at special price as requested by Pino Scotto) also contains a track by Giuseppe Galliano and the first 1000 copies also contain a comic-strip by Giacomo Balosu, from the monography "Standing rock (Lo Scotto Da Pagare)". The Last album released by the charismatic singer is "Guado", eleven great tracks for a deeply felt work in which we find artists as Norman Zoia, members of bands as Extrema and Timoria , international artists as Aida Cooper and Claudio Pascoli. Once again we find in Scotto's lyrics a great ability and sensitivity in writing about social topics, characteristic of his music. For years the historical importance of this artist (member of the register of journalists as publicist ) are officially recognized by specialized magazines: Tutto Musica e Spettacolo and Hard!. In each number of Hard magazine we find an article "Way to rock" where the Milan-born artist speaks his mind about the music business and different actuality matters. His artistic choerence and choices, against everything and everyone, his power and strength make Pino Scotto a legend, an artist without whom italian rock wouldn't have a meaning. To confirm this in 2003 comes the news of a great return. With his friend Lio Mascheroni, drum player and other talented musicians as guitar player Steve Angarthal, keyboard player Neil Otupacca (former Gotthard) and bass player Angelo Perini (former Scomunica), Scotto is ready to make all italian stages "quake" with his new band: Fire Trails. (by Dr. Feelgood)

Lio Mascheroni (drums)

After several experiences with different indipendent bands in 1981 Lio Mascheroni (1960) becomes the ufficial drum player of the most popular Italian hard rock band: Vanadium. Throughout the 80s he has constantly been head of a musical movement and has contributed to the popularity of a music genre that was already hitting the charts overseas. Inexhaustible drum player with unrestrainable power, Lio Mascheroni together with Mimmo Pantera has been the strength of Vanadium's rythmical section. The two together made the most explosive and terrific hard rock sound Italy has ever heard. His strong and powrful rhythmic is the perfect example of a constantly evolving musician. In his unic style we can hear and feel a blend of different inspirations: the classy touch of Keith Moon (The Who) and John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), the power and strength of musicians of the new generation as Nick Menza (Megadeth) and Bobby Blotzer (Ratt, Contraband). Lio Mascheroni is considered one of the most representative and significant drum players of the Italian rock scene. His talent and his energy place him without any doubt on top of the hard rock movement that throughout the years has seen other talented drum players such as the unforgettable Roberto Cappanera (Strange Workshop) and Dario Caroli (Sabotage, Bud Tribe). Lio Mascheroni has been the "heart" of Vanadium, a heart whose beat has made the band's career extraordinary. From the very beginnig with "Metal Rock" (1982) through "A the Race With The Devil" (1983), (54,000 copies sold in Italy) and "Game Over" (1984), "Live On Streets Of Danger" (1985), the masterpiece "Born To Fight" (1986), "Corruption Of Innocence" (1987) "Seventheaven" (1989) up to their last album in 1995 "Nel cuore del caos" (for the first time all songs were written and performed in Italian). In 1986 his increasing success leads him to performe with Vanadium on the same stage with international bands as Motorhead and Twisted Sister at the Palasport of Bologna and at the Palatenda in Milan for the first Italian Heavy Metal Festival. In 1988 he's at the Alpi di Torino Stadium, for a aid concert against Aids. Here he gives the audiance an excellent performance and once again his great talent gets to the public. The whole band gives an outstanding performance on the same stage where acts as Rod Stewart and Status Quo performe the same night. At this point Vanadium make their cross over getting the attention of the English critics. Jasper Tones makes an excellent review of the band in his" Inernational Encyclopedia Of Hard Rock & Heavy Metal". In 1994 Lio Mascheroni with his everlasting friend Pino Scotto, vocalist of Vanadium, whose gorgeous solo carrer had meanwhile taken off, gives life to "Progetto Sinergia" (Synergy Project) headed to gather different musiciants with a common passion: Rock music. Musiciants as Luigi Schiavone (guitarist of Enrico Ruggeri's band) Antonio Aiazzi (Litfiba), Fabrizio Palermo (Clandestino and former musician of Ligabue's band). These great artists give life to a "all star band" that includes Andrea Braido (guitarist of Vasco Rossi) and the harmonica player Fabio Treves. After the publication of an homonymous album and while waiting to re-unite Vanadium, reunion that had already started with the release of the album "Nel cuore del caos" and a long tour, Lio Mascheroni keeps working with his friend Pino Scotto at his solo albums and concerts. 2003 has great news in store: Lio Mascheroni and Pino Scotto are back with a new and exciting project called Fire Trails (Vanadium Tribute). The cd includes 12 tacks. Nine songs, entirly rearranged and re-recorded belong to the fertile Vanadium's production while the remaining three tracks are new releases. The album was recorded in 2002 at Alphaville Studio in Milan for Underground Sinphony and distributed by Audioglobe Records (Florence). (by Dr. Feelgood)

Steve Anghartal (Guitars)

Steve Angarthal (1972), stands out for his intensity and fluidity in playing his axe, and also for the personal synthesis of all the different musical styles he absorbed along the way. Basically a rock guitar player (Deep Purple, Rainbow & Iron Maiden being his first passions),he's always been in love with blues and classical music. Later, he will also discover the fascination for jazz music such as C. Parker's, Coltrane's and D.Reinhardt's ; drawn by the magic and awe that music is able to convey he's also fond of flamenco (Paco Pena, Paco De Lucia),the indian ragas of Ravi Shankar and Nishat Khan as well as the ritual chants of American Indians and the misterious harmonic tibethan chants. In love with music since he was born,he took it seriously at the age of 15 when he started studying classical guitar with M° Marco Biassoni. After a litle while he couldn't resist but to start playing what would be his main instrument: the electric guitar.Thereafter he's up playing with several local bands and songwriting for some of them. At 18 he gets close to jazz music and takes a three year course with M°Filippo Daccò in functional harmony and composition for big bands. He then begins to work as session guitar player. He takes part to minimalist New York musician Rhys Chatham's project "An angel moves too fast to see", which is actually a concerto for band and 100 piece electric guitars orchestra, and they gig at Smeraldo Theatre in Milan. After this experience he moves to London where he has the chance to play with several local bands and musicians and, also, to meet guitar player and head master at london's Universities' rock guitar courses, Shaun Baxter.Under Shaun Baxter's supervision he delves into several technical and stylistics aspects of electric guitar. Returning to Italy after two years,he sets a new rock band called Luna Nuova which plays original material in local venues such as the famous Capolinea and opens up, at Palavobis, a rock festival which features as headliner Bad Religion, plus bands such as Lag Wagon and Hblox. During 2000 he meets M° Mauro Catalano,a famous italian violinist, and together they gather a 20 piece chamber orchestra named Cordis ensemble, which features Steve angarthal on the electric guitar as soloist. The ensemble plays around in Italy and the shows they perform is based on A.Vivaldi works and original material composed and arranged by Angarthal himself. In 2001 he meets italian rock singer Pino Scotto and together they give life to an acoustic set called "Akustica Jam" performing blues and rock'n'roll stuff around northern Italy. After a year things grow, and adding drummer Lio Mascheroni, who was together with Pino Scotto, part of the famous Metal band Vanadium, the very core of Fire Trails is born. From here, they call the young italian rock bass player Angelo Perini and ex-Gothard hammond and keyboard player Neil Otupacca to join the Fire trails' line up. 2003 sees the release, under the label "underground symphony", of "Vanadium Tribute" a work based upon Vanadium best hits and three new brand tracks being the new musical path drawn by Fire Trails. The band is then promoting the new release with the video "run too fast", and playing live around Italy and Europe. Steve Angarthal endorses and plays Molinelli guitars since 2000.
